'Obama Effect' Helps Change Image of the Black Man
In less than six months in office, President Barack Obama's campaign for change has not only shaken things up in the White House, but it has helped to restore the image of Black men everywhere. Whether it's attending his daughters' soccer games, shooting hoops with the boys or jet-setting to New York City to take his wife, Michelle, on a date, President Obama is a living example that Black men can do it all, says Florence B. Bonner , a sociology professor at Howard University. Even NBA All-Star Allen Iverson abandoned his trademark cornrows for a traditional low-fade because of the "Obama effect."
