The Johnson Publishing Company building is one of the most visited architectural landmarks on Chicago's magnificent Michigan Avenue. The building occupies approximately 138,000 square feet and serves as the corporate home of EBONY and JET magazines, Fashion Fair Cosmetics, EBONY Fashion Fair and JPC Book Division. John Moutoussany, Black partner in the firm Dubin, Dubin, Black and Moutoussany, was the architect. The 11-story structure is the first building constructed in Chicago's loop by an African-American man since Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable built his log cabin along the Chicago River in 1722. JPC headquarters also houses the nation's largest corporate collection of Black American and African art. |
